Engineering Manager Job Summary The Product Design Engineer plays a crucial role in creating a competitive advantage for our customers and reports to the Engineering Manager.
He/She is responsible for providing engineering technical support, in-depth mechanical analysis and designing or developing best in class products to meet quality, value and functionality expectations.
In addition, they provide excellent customer service, promote support for our products and are a valued teammate.
Supervisory Responsibilities None Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions Creates sales drawings and engineering designs utilizing established standards, deviating when appropriate to meet customer application requirements.
Key steward in maintaining industry-leading quality and safety standards.
Integrates latest safety features into equipment designs while maintaining functionality.
Continually improving product designs by seeking input from Production, Sales and Engineering to implement best in class production techniques and processes.
Create accurate documentation for equipment, including but not limited to:
drawings, bills of material, sketches, written and verbal instructions.
Familiar with product manufacturing processes and the general cost impact of the various processes to make best cost recommendations to Sales and customers.
Supports production engineering activities through the use of computational design justification techniques such as FEA, CFD and other computer aided methods and initiates solution ideas.
Assist in development of materials, testing concepts and validation protocols of unique component features and new product designs.
Serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers, applies engineering principles, product knowledge and practical experience to make recommendations.
Resource in creating a best-in-class engineering organization and systematic implementation of engineering design and production standards.
Subject matter expert in 3D parametric modeling, parameter based design and data management tools.
Skilled in handling customer calls and technical inquiries, provides expert feedback in a timely and courteous manner.
Utilizes systematic problem solving methodology to identify root causes of product application/quality problems and make recommendations for improvements.
Works with the Supply Base group in supplier selection through the assessment of supplier capabilities, capacity and ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
Continually improving product designs by seeking input from Production, Sales and Engineering to implement best in class production techniques and processes.
Attend production meetings and project review meetings as needed to insure the timely completion of projects.
Will provide minor support in the shop or test area when required.
Other duties as assigned.
